The Cursed

Origins of Red Riding Hood and Her Wolf

The Script

The dialogue is written and will be spoken in old English. It is important to present the correct setting for the audience to be brought into the story. We not only want them engaged in the acting but also in the dialect.

Setting : Late 1700's/18th century English woods in between a village (stage right) and a castle (stage left). The village and the castle are not seen but their locations are indicated by the direction in which the villagers and blue bloods enter and exit. The main focus, especially in the first Act is the berry bush. The bushes produce such wonderful berries that they are famed and the blue bloods ignore their own berry bushes and steal from the wild bushes. The villagers are protective of the berries and do not like the blue bloods. They have bad reputations which the audience comes to appreciate as the first royal they are introduced to uses one of the village girls and leads her to curse him and any blue bloods there after via their berries. This results in a series of misfortunes leading them all to come to realize they have all befallen the same fate and they are The Cursed.
