List of Characters

 

Lorna Wolford – The so called witch, the one that bestows the curse on the “Blue Bloods” and turns those that eat of the famed berry bush, into Wolves. Lorna is hungry for attention and is knowledgable in herbs and how to administer them as medicine. She is a moarnful soul that does not have anyone to call a true friend. (Brooke)

Bess Hewitt – An out spoken young woman who is kind in nature but not one to be taken advantage of. She is the hero in the tale. She comes from a happy family of villagers but is angered when the “Blue bloods” or “Royals” take over the picking of their berries. 

Farren – A friend of Bess. Fun loving and a bit bold. She is clever and usual starts up the games they play whether good or slightly naughty. 

Abigail Hanson- A friend of Bess. Lively but sweet. She goes along with Farren yet would never come up with such antics on her own. 

Esther – The matriarch of the group although she is only their senior by a few years. 

Rupert – Is a wolf in character even from the start of the play, although the curse has yet been cast. He seeks a victim and when Lorna, whom he chooses as such, succumbs agreeably to his advances he uses her and then disregards her and the position she finds herself in. Due to his horrible behavior it leads to his victim to seek revenge.

Gherd – A Royal but a very sincerely charming one that is cursed along with his Uncle Rupert. While looking for his "drunken" uncle he meets a lovely young woman but the blossoming romance is doused when tragedy strikes.  

Winifred Hewitt – Bess' little sister. She is kind hearted and brave but this results in her violent murder.  

Prudence Hanson- Abigail's little sister. Sweet and timid. She is afraid of the world around her.  

Jonas – The axeman. He is young and over anxious to prove his place in the village. He is very eager to lead the linch mob to whom ever they suspect may have killed Winifred.  

Saunders – Rupert's friend. He is a snob and out-right elitist. (Noah) 

Prisca – Rupert's fiance. She is snobbish but has a tendency to forget that she is expected to be cruel. 

Mabel – Prisca's friend who instigates her cohort's into sending Lorna into madness. 

Minister – The minister of the village who tries to make them put aside revenge. (Rick)

Mother Hewitt – Bess and Winifred's mother. Kindly and full of God's love. (Miss Barbara)
